About
Lucy specialises in portraiture. She works in oils, pencil and gouache on board, paper or vellum. She has trained with leading experts in gold leaf gilding, learning the original medieval method of adhesive making by hand and the handling and preparing of vellum. Lucy enjoys heraldic design and seeks to incorporate the associated elements of symbolism and gilding that are often found in heraldry in her portraits.
Lucy composes emotive images, which capture the soul of the sitter and she does so with a focus on detail and likeness. She creates pieces that will endure through time and be cherished by those who hold them.
As well as training as an artist, Lucy worked as a lawyer having read Law at the University of Cambridge. She lives in the Cotswolds with her paintbrushes, husband, three daughters, two cats and five hens.
